Iain’s story

As an experienced photographer, I always struggled to find the right framing to complement and protect my work — after taking the time to take the perfect shot, I didn’t want to let it down by settling for an “it’ll do” high street frame.
And so I began learning how to create the perfect frame myself.
Over time, what started from necessity turned into a passion and I’ve been making expertly-crafted custom frames for artists, photographers, illustrators, gallery owners, exhibition organisers, and art lovers since 2017.
Guild Certified Framing and Printing.
I’ve never been one to rest on my laurels though, so in January 2023 I passed the Fine Art Trade Guild’s rigorous exam to become a Guild Certified Framer.
Not only does this mean that I work to the Guild’s professional standards as defined in the “Four Levels of Framing” and follow their code of ethics, it means I’m committed to keeping my skills, knowledge, and training up to date with regular Continuing Professional Development and re-certification every 4 years.
As a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, I’ve also joined the ArtSure scheme which guarantees customers a similarly high level of quality in fine art digital printing — reproductions with the sharpness, accuracy, and vibrancy of the original artwork or photograph.

A family-run business
In 2022, I welcomed my nephew, Cammy Harold to my workshop and was thrilled when he was one of the youngest people ever to pass the Guild’s extensive exam and join me as one of Aberdeen’s only Guild Certified Framers.
